Google introduces almost two innovations a week
If you have a smart phone or Blackberry, you can do a voice search on the Google or could take a snap of a monument or painting from the mobile and get to know its details through image-based search.
These and several other innovations are being added, almost two a week, by Google as part of its efforts to make the search engine relevant to different media formats and ensure faster results, according to Vinay Goel, head of products, Google India. With mobile revolution taking place in India, lot of internet connections were happening through it, he said.
Citing examples, he said ‘Google instant' now made it possible to get the desired information by merely typing a letter or two with several related results showing up. This was saving two to five seconds every time a search was done.
Providing landmark-based directions to reach a place in a city, information on the public transport, real time results, sporting events like cricket matches and user-generated maps were some of the latest offerings
He said Google's Operating system (Chrome OS) would be launched this year. It was being tested in the U.S. and the U.K.
